5 Things to Avoid After Getting Your Windows Tinted – MC Tint Tips

So you just had your vehicle windows tinted — nice move! Window tint not only upgrades your car’s look but also adds comfort, UV protection, and privacy. But before you hit the road and forget about it, there are a few things you should avoid to make sure your tint cures properly and lasts as long as it should.

Here are 5 things to avoid after a fresh tint job from the experts at MC Tint:

1. Rolling Down the Windows

This is a big one. For the first few days (typically 3–5 days), keep your windows rolled up. The film needs time to fully bond to the glass. Rolling them down too soon could cause the edges to peel or bubble.

2. Washing the Windows Too Soon

Avoid cleaning the inside of your windows for at least a week after tinting. The moisture used during installation needs to evaporate completely, and cleaning too early could lift the edges or scratch the film before it sets.

3. Worrying About Haze or Bubbles

If you notice a slight haze, water spots, or small bubbles after installation — don’t panic. This is completely normal and part of the drying process. It can take a few days to a couple of weeks, depending on weather, for the film to fully cure and clear up.

4. Using Harsh Cleaners or Rough Towels

Once your tint is fully cured, always clean your windows with a soft microfiber cloth and a tint-safe cleaner (ammonia-free). Harsh chemicals and rough paper towels can scratch or damage the film.

5. Trying to “Fix” It Yourself

If something doesn’t look right after a week or so, contact us! Don’t try to peel, poke, or press down the film yourself — you could cause more damage. At MC Tint, our work is backed by a lifetime warranty, and we’re happy to take a look if anything seems off.
